The Verizon Media public policy team represents the Verizon Media business and internet brands on some of the hottest public policy issues of the day, including data privacy and Section 230/internet platform liability.  

Responsibilities of Role:

  • Lead U.S. federal government affairs for Verizon Media, serving as the primary liaison to Congress and the Administration

  • Develop and implement strategies to protect and promote Verizon Media’s business on key policy areas including intermediary liability, privacy and copyright; leverage colleagues to cover full landscape of key issues

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key lawmakers, committee staff and Administration officials

  • Monitor, analyze, and distill legislative and regulatory proposals and determine the potential impact on Verizon Media’s wide range of product offerings

  • Represent company in trade associations to shape agendas and amplify company priorities

  • This position will be based in Washington, DC, and report to Verizon Media’s Head of Global Public Policy.

Qualifications for Role:

  •  Bachelor’s degree with 10 years post college experience, including at least 5 years working in Congress, the Administration or similar role

  • Familiarity with the broad range of internet policy issues

  • A track record of success in achieving desired outcomes in government affairs arena

  • Superior written and oral communication skills, strategic and creative thinking, resourcefulness, sense of humor, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced goal-oriented environment

  • Ability to work with teammates and colleagues in various time zones; travel as needed

  • Ability to work well independently, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, and an ability to contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team
