Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.

Facebook is looking for a global public policy expert to help develop and advocate for the company’s perspectives on data-related legislation and regulation and to lead key data initiatives within Facebook’s Global Public Policy team, including our Data for Good team. This is a leadership role on our Privacy and Data Policy team, reporting directly to the Chief Privacy Officer for Policy. The team’s global mission is to develop and shape privacy-protective data policy regulation that help bring the world closer together and improve people’s lives. In this role, you’ll collaborate with policy, legal, and product experts at Facebook, and engage with policy influencers, including legislators, academics, and consumer and civil liberties advocates, to help build data privacy regulations for people around the world.
Protecting people’s privacy is central to everything we do at Facebook. The Global Public Policy team works with leaders across the company to develop and implement processes and safeguards to protect the personal information of our users. Facebook is seeking a talented, self-motivated experienced leader that is excited by taking on and leading complex and proactive privacy projects, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to drive meaningful privacy and data regulation.
In this role, you’ll lead a team that is responsible for developing policy initiatives and regulatory frameworks that focus on the hardest and least resolved questions relating to global data regulation, including regulation around privacy, AI, data portability, youth, AR/VR, and other key areas. You’ll work with product leaders and our regional policy team leaders to identify our core priorities based on the global policy environment and build research, policy, and programmatic data initiatives, including Data For Good, regulatory sandboxes, and design jams, to address those challenges and collaborate directly with governments in use of data from Meta to improve service delivery. You’ll lead our strategy to cultivate impactful discussion and evidence supporting meaningful regulatory solutions through workshops, papers, and similar initiatives, and lead the work necessary to synthesize various perspectives in a form that moves closer to global consensus around tangible and workable solutions.
The ideal candidate for this role is a creative and strategic thinker who has experience analyzing product proposals and drafting legislation, leading strategic data policy campaigns, and publishing on data policy topics, who can switch easily between big-picture conceptual thinking and detailed analysis. A successful candidate will be deeply familiar with online consumer services, have a meaningful understanding of global stakeholders and perspectives in the privacy community, and be able to use this understanding to drive a sustainable approach to privacy regulation globally.
