OVERVIEW

CR is recruiting engineers, public interest technologists, and entrepreneurs to develop innovative new ways of serving consumers. You’ll be joining a dynamic team that works openly and builds out the earliest, most experimental part of CR’s innovation pipeline.

As Project Manager, you’ll report to the Director, Innovation Lab and be responsible for establishing and implementing a project management process to support the pipeline of innovation projects. This role is for someone who is extremely detail-oriented and excited by the idea to establish an open sourced knowledge management system for the Lab.

THE OPPORTUNITY

How You’ll Make an Impact:

Your experience establishing and implementing project management processes and methodologies will help the Innovation Lab meet their objectives to generate new prototypes, while also broadening CR’s reach among new and more diverse audiences.  You will manage key project initiatives in order to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to quality standards and meet stakeholder expectations.  This will include developing, managing and tracking project plans, leading project scrums, managing key projects, enlisting support of internal and external resources  and resolving issues as needed.

You’ll create and ship technologies that have a real impact on the marketplace, the law, and people’s lives. OurCR’s work includes solutions to help consumers secure their digital devices, help them take back control of their data, make it easier to buy locally and save money, and more.

  • You will create project plans and tracking to support the department’s program management and governance.
  • You will ensure that Innovation Lab projects are managed efficiently and executed effectively.
  • You will pro-actively identify and solve for roadblocks.
  • You will establish and maintain PM documentation, milestones and deliverables are met.
  • You will prepare regular status reports for stakeholders.
  • You will provide administrative support in drafting contracts, scheduling, and other project management needs.
  • You will establish and implement project management/agile processes and methodologies to monitor progress on all department priorities.
  • You will manage assigned projects, including coordination across departments/divisions, status monitoring and reporting, and addressing project blockers. Typically managing one or more cross functional projects of medium to high complexity.
  • You will assemble project plans, iterations and teamwork assignments, identify resource needs, and escalate functional, quality and timeline issues.
  • You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to quality standards and meet expectations.
  • You will contribute to department governance and quarterly updates to advisory council and stakeholders.
  • You will provide administrative and scheduling support to ensure alignment with Legal, IT, and other departments.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll Be Highly Rated If:

 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in related field (may be substituted for equivalent combination of work experience and education).
  • You have 3 or more years of problem-solving and working in a project management experience capacity.
  • You have the ability to work well under pressure and fast deadlines.
  • You have knowledge of project management methodologies such as RACI and best practices.
  • You have strong organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You have an understanding of technical nomenclature.
  • You have an appreciation and understanding of the consumer movement and its potential impact on issues including corporate and state power, economic and social inequality, and environmental sustainability.

Our Commitment to Fair Pay

At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $126,000 to $155,000. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
