Hackathon 2020: Addressing Disparities in Access to the Internet

The first policy hackathon, titled “Internet Law and Policy Foundry Hackathon: Addressing Disparities in Access to the Internet”, was hosted virtually on November 20-22, 2020, and was open to students and young professionals around the world of all backgrounds interested in internet policy. The participants were asked to address how the digital divide disproportionately impacts communities of color and other marginalized groups, who often lack reliable and affordable access to the internet–an issue that has been compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were asked to suggest solutions to addressing this disparity.
