Facebook is looking for a results-oriented Manager to join our Global Strategic Initiatives Team. The team’s mission is to partner with teams across Facebook to design, build, and manage new decision making mechanisms and institutions that give people greater power over Facebook’s products and decisions. Current projects include the establishment of the Oversight Board to govern Facebook’s approach to content moderation and the Choice & Competition cross-functional partners which works to ensure that Facebook is supporting innovation. In this role, you will lead the go-to-market efforts for the GSI team’s new governance initiatives. Specifically, you will build and execute consultation plans and external engagement strategies for these governance initiatives. You will work closely with our colleagues in Communications, Marketing, Policy, Operations, Research, Product, and Legal, and external partners and stakeholders to design, manage, and implement this work. An ideal candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot in an evolving high- pressure environment under time constraints. The successful candidate will be a strong critical, strategic, and analytical thinker with excellent planning and organizational skills, highly collaborative, has strong communication skills, project management, and attention to detail.
Manager, Civic Governance Responsibilities
  • Lead, design, and deploy strategic consultation and external engagement plans
  • Oversee and issue spot high priority work supporting consultation and external engagement
  • Research external landscape and iterate to incorporate findings into design plans
  • Build and maintain key relationships and seek opportunities to build productive alliances with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other members of the cross-functional teams such as Communications, Marketing, Policy, Operations, Research, Product, and Legal to work in partnership to help build and support plans
  • Up to 25% periodic travel may be required
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. degree
  • 6+ years experience with strategic execution, marketing, communication, cross functional partnership, and project management
  • Demonstrated experience drafting project plans, proposals, memos, and analysis
  • Experience with client facing or external communications and/or engagement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or JD
  • Experience in collaboration between law, policy, or political science and technology
  • Experience leading a team to achieve results, either directly or indirectly
  • Experience with effective negotiation with and influencing stakeholders and colleagues to achieve optimal results and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment, strong communicator and presenter
