Senior Associate, Events Programming – McCourt School of Public Policy – Georgetown University



In collaboration with the Strategic Communications and Events team, the Senior Associate for Events Programming develops and implements strategic events designed to support the mission and strategic objectives of the McCourt School of Public Policy, with a particular focus on McCourt’s emerging Tech and Public Policy program.

The Senior Associate brings to life the research, expertise and impact of McCourt School and for key internal and external audiences through events programming. Their primary responsibility is to work with key internal and external partners to conceive of, design and execute relevant, timely, and innovative events and conversations for campus and off-campus audiences. In collaboration with internal and external partners, they determine relevant voices and a balance of perspectives for McCourt School events at the intersection of policy research and the news of the day. As well, the draft event participant invitations, event titles, and descriptions.

The Senior Associate is also responsible for events related to McCourt’s Tech and Public Policy program, an emerging program that seeks to connect and grow McCourt’s academic programs and expertise to address the challenges and opportunities of our ever-evolving digital society – from our Massive Data Institute, which serves as a hub for researchers in government, academia, and industry to use new and traditional large-scale data sources to solve societal-scale problems, to our Master of Science in Data Science for Public Policy program which prepares students with the skills to inform data-driven policy, to courses in public interest technology, cyber conflict and security, and big data and artificial intelligence.

The portfolio also includes Georgetown and the McCourt School’s partnership with the McCourt Institute, an independent organization, to further scholarship from University experts on the use of technology to further the common good.


Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Communications, and the Senior Associate collaborates extensively with the Events Manager. They also collaborate with Program Director of McCourt’s Tech and Public Policy program, McCourt’s Digital Media Associate, McCourt’s Senior Director of Development, and the broader McCourt School Communications and Events team.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four to six years of experience with an emphasis on event design and execution, strategic and intellectual programming, and writing for events
  • A demonstrated passion for news-making political and policy conversation, and ability to know or research what topics are new and relevant for a wide range of issue areas
  • Ability to stay up-to-date on innovative programming platforms and formats, and understand how to advance the mission, reputation, and visibility of the McCourt School through strategic events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence for effective interactions working with internal and external clients and individuals, including top policy and technology researchers, and key external partners
  • Ability to work independently, assuming responsibility, prioritizing and carrying out duties with minimum supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communications skills, and the ability to articulate the needs, interests, and accomplishments of McCourt School to a wide range of audiences are required
  • Ability to handle multiple “priority” projects simultaneously and set and meet deadlines, and ensure that the staff does the same

Preferred qualification

  • Experience in policy or political events
